Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a poor family with 12 kids later on, realized early that she could get away from her hardships through a vivid imagination. Before she learned to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. When she got her first guitar at the age of eight, she started to perform at radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. The first album she recorded was within the same calendar year Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. While she was a local star while in the high school years, her ambitions were bigger. In 1964, the day that followed her graduation from high school her family moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted at the top of Monument Records. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his syndicated television show. Parton accepted the job and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at Number. 1 for the first time in 1974.
